So what's the ideal size for viewing art on this site? 'cause uploading the raw .pngs zooms in way too close when clicking for a closer view, I'm assuming like 1600 pixels wide or something?

Yeah, I think your best bet would be something like maybe 1600 pixels high, at the most; because it does seem like that the viewer is modeled more for a typical widescreen monitor more than anything else.
